When A Cake is Airborne ...

I found this "old" picture of a cake I made for my cousin's wedding in 2010. I didn't even know the things I now know about cake decorating.

I made all the sugar roses and leaves by hand. I had no cutter. I was still working a 9-5 job in a software house back then and I couldn't get that Friday off and my cousin's wedding was the next day. So I taxied the cake to the office from home, then taxied again to the airport in the evening then boarded a flight headed for Abuja.

Of course the cake couldn't have made all that journeying standing like that. All four tiers were in separate boxes. Even the flowers travelled separately, wrapped delicately like eggs in a box lined with old newspaper. Passengers who checked in with me were so fantastic! Once they saw they were cakes, they rallied around and helped me carry them till we boarded and landed. Nigerians are just awesome! Shout out to all the people who helped me on that day. God bless you all.
